Annabelle - Official Main Trailer [HD]
This trailer is a perfect example of all the editing coming into one such as, fade in fade out and iris
Editing in films
Editing is one of the most used things for producing films, it cuts out the boring bits such as, walking to a place, or delivering an item. Editing helps construct the narrative, we're so used to seeing editing in films we barely recognise it. Editing is often 'invisible'. In the assassination scene in north by north west between roger getting out the taxi to looking down on the united nations building there are 26 cuts most frequently during the conversation so we can see the characters facial reactions. The pace of the editing can be used to create excitement and tension for example, in the shower scene of psycho the pace speeds up but when Marion dies the pace slows down, as if her life is slowly leaving her.
dissolve- one scene dissolves into another, overlapping for a moment
fade out fade in- one scene fades out to black completely, then another fades in.
wipes- one scene wipes across the screen, revealing or replacing the next one. This can happen in any direction.
Iris- The next scene replaces the last by appearing from the centre like an iris of an eye.
Jump cuts- Two scenes that feature a common element right after one another, so something stays the same but the rest changes. This is used for disorients or comedy effect.

mise-en-scene
Mis-en-scene means everything within a frame. for example, lighting, costumes, facial expressions and composition. It makes a scene a lot better. Like in the first scene of jaws low lighting suggests that something bad will happen, also the couple sitting outside the campfire find an isolated beach away from the rest of the group, which creates a scary affect suggesting something bad is going to happen. Also the calm water when the girl jumps in the sea creates a huge suspense. Then when the shark does come the music makes the scene more scarier and the sea level camera makes the girl look even more venerable then what she actually is. The sharks point of view also shows the terror and movement of struggle the girl is creating. Then the sun sets which suggests the end of her life.

exorcist...
In the exorcist attic scene all of the camera angles work together really well. There is a lot of suspense and mystery. There is no music so you can hear the sounds the women hears, for example, the creaking floor boards the crash of the ladders and the falling objects in the attic, no music makes the suspense larger. The exorcist is good for how well the genetic elements work together. For example, its pitch black. in the attic, the lights don't work, its a isolated young women and its in the attic, very stereotypical. The Title of the film also implies something bad is going to happen. She is filmed from above that makes her look weak and vulnerable then she is filmed from behind that makes it look like she is being followed. The candle light makes shadows so you don't have a clear view on what is around her.
