Mis-en-scene means everything within a frame. for example, lighting, costumes, facial expressions and composition. It makes a scene a lot better. Like in the first scene of jaws low lighting suggests that something bad will happen, also the couple sitting outside the campfire find an isolated beach away from the rest of the group, which creates a scary affect suggesting something bad is going to happen. Also the calm water when the girl jumps in the sea creates a huge suspense. Then when the shark does come the music makes the scene more scarier and the sea level camera makes the girl look even more venerable then what she actually is. The sharks point of view also shows the terror and movement of struggle the girl is creating. Then the sun sets which suggests the end of her life.
